On hold for Jessie until 5-15-22

Here’s a fabulous Persian Sultanabad Mahal with all natural vegetable dyes, from circa 1870. These particular village rugs have been some of the most desirable, with sophisticated and unique design that are a cut above the regular Mahal Persians. They’re highly sought out for their amazing decorative aesthetic and style and they stand through time as the most amazing examples of art and history.

This square-ish rug has a ground color palette of warm sand that meets a light sage.

It is low pile, and beautifully worn through time and with art on the field that will be easy to style. The borders features the the same background as the field, which is not often what we see with old rugs and their typical style with color contrasting borders. Please note, some areas on the border have been carefully mended to keep the strength of this piece going. Please see pics for character and condition.

Fun fact: a Sultanabad Mahal that Freud had in his personal collection was sold in 2001 for $92K.

This heirloom has been professionally cleaned and is ready for its next abode.
