This antique Donegal Oushak rug will be the perfect addition to any space requiring floor art that is warm and inviting. In Oushak fashion, the saffron red of the repeated large-scale angular floral pattern that gives a very balanced composition is highlighted against the spaciousness of the warm beige ground, which has a green undertone. Varying beige, dark tan and muted sage green tones add depth and character to this charming rug.
The style of this beauty may be Oushak, but it originated from Donegal county, Ireland, where ancient rug traditions had fallen under the influence of the industrial revolution, which in turn mechanized the process of rug weaving. This lovely rug has a rare square shape. It has a weighted feel to it and folds with softness like a weighted blanket due to the soft and fluffy texture of the coarse knots that make the wool more flexible.
With a soft wool foundation, it is highly recommended that a rug pad be used to help ground this fantastic rug.
