ON HOLD FOR TERESA
This is a Persian tribal hand knotted rug from NW Persia in Mahal. Specifically, it comes from the city of Sultanabad, which are known as the oldest and highest quality Mahal carpets. The field of this antique rug has flower heads and fish (they look like shrimp) motifs dancing across the main field. Technically, this hand woven art is termed "herati design" and the fish in Farsi are called "Mahi". The rust borders are exquisite in rust, creating a vivid contrast and magnificent juxtaposition with the darker and deep indigo blue colored background. The brilliant rust border frames the main design, and gives it a great sense of proportion and space.
Hand knotted circa 1880, with all natural vegetable dyed wool.
Custom cut rug pad $150, included in the checkout price.
