This rug was hand knotted in Northwest Persia, and it features 3 tribal medallions in the field on a madder red ground. It is from the region of Heriz, woven in the 1920s. It has nice scattered wear and a strong, beautiful border and highly stylized art woven on a midnight blue ground.
This piece from the mountainous areas of Persia has durable wool, coarse knotting and low wool pile.
It's an all natural, vegetable dyed wool rug and in great condition, especially considering its age. Remember, this is an original Heriz, not a reproduction. It does not get better than original Oriental rugs such as this.
