It's living large and it has subdued dyes and simply color ways that make it so attractive to those who want the formality of a fine piece without the dominant colors we typically see on P E R S I A N S.
This magnificent rug is from Mashhad, which is known as the most beautiful city in P E R S I A. This old town is one of the holiest and most important regions, rich in agriculture and one of the best places wool comes from.
In antique rugs like this one, Mashaad rugs are distinct in texture and quality. These super sturdy rugs even wear over time in a particular way and helps us ID it. Woven circa 1920, this gem is covered in beautiful curvilinear floral motifs with a garbanzo ground color. You'll see wonderful movement in this rug with vine scrolls giving birth to darling paisleys. The fluer design is exquisite and has a harmonious flow.
The body of this piece is super heavy, durable and soft to the touch. It has stunning design and is in clean condition after 100 years of age with wool that has a glow. Please note, this rug is old and handwoven and not perfectly straight. Pics in detail show its character.
