This late 19th Century worn Serapi from the mountains in Northwest Persia is a work of art that has has seen time and still keeps on ticking. It is famed as one of the grandest of Persian Heriz rugs. If you have been looking at rugs for a while you can see how distinct this beauty is. The artisans went for bold and beautiful with these piece. It is an antique rug with great presence and strength, and everyone visiting will know it.

With art work that is a bit more spread out and spaciously designed, along with those irresistible steel blue borders filled with natural dyes and abrash, it is a Persian rug of choice and there is good reason for it and no wonder why these rare rugs retail for $35K on up! 

This vegetable dyed wool rug took some years and multiple weavers to produce this room size masterpiece. The aged rust ground and its nature inspired palette commands great attention. The weaving is undoubtedly the work of women and was likely woven from memory. No sketches! It is symbolic in design and was made on the family level in a small workshop over 140 years ago.

The natural dyes here are on the master level to result in this superb work of impactful art. You will see the "abrash" in the rug, which are the natural dye variations throughout, breathing so much character or existence of great age.
