Mahal rugs from Persia are knowns for their amazing floral work and captivating colors, along with their soft and floppy wool. This piece has a great range of colors and was created by skilled hands. It must have taken a few years to weave it and will be the perfect centerpiece to a space that needs a beautiful focal point.
It is low pile, woven with vegetable dyed wool and has nice character with its aged look after a century of life. The detail on the one end of the rug (the fringe) is so lovely, look at what the weaver left in design. It's a woven signature of art. The border you see is a deep midnight blue and the field is a terracotta-brick red that leans into orange.
From the 1920s.
