Tabriz rugs are one of the most distinguished, due to their exceptional, tight weave and loyalty to traditional Persian rug design and is reputed to hold the highest standards of expert craftsmanship. This massive rug carries arabesque art form and with lattice like design, curling vines and branches, budding floral art and curvilinear work.
The main border is on a navy blue ground and has soft pastel pink, a warm beige. Other colors include pewter blue, light mint green, chestnut brown and indigo blue. It's a very sturdy low pile Persian. Please note, the vegetable dyes on this large piece varies from end to end. It has a slightly more subdued tone on one half than the other. Condition is great for its age, with character that is parallel to its century old life.
This Tabriz has a woven signature at the top of the rug, indicating a master weaver was on the loom creating this palace size beauty. At an exceptional value for the age, size and art and of course amazing quality.
