This is a hand woven antique Mashhad rug, from the northeastern province of Khorasan, in Persia. Mashhad is a major producer of valued rugs for hundreds of years and known to have some of the finest wool in their rugs.

This beauty has a low wool pile on cotton foundation. It has an enchanting look and a naturally distressed style with a lovely, floppy handle. It women years to weave this Persian and the rug has earned this look and character organically through time. The result before our very eyes on the beautiful navy blue ground that was dyed with indigo makes this antique rug all the more desirable. Filled with curvilinear art and all over floral design, these are the forever flowers that will grace the home.
