This is a Malayer from the Hamadan region. It has an all over pattern on a dark indigo ground field. The wool is high quality that was dyed naturally with vegetables, plants, roots and flowers. There is nothing ever synthetic of antique rugs like this one.
This hand knotted runner has aged beautifully through time. It is very durable and has centuries to go.
Malayer is a village in Northwest Iran and is known to have produced really decorative rugs that are great investments for a home which have become wildly popular and with good reason!
