The irresistible and all natural dyes that have so beautifully aged, all with vegetable dyed wool. You will also see the shades of dyes changing which is a natural phenomenon called abrash, which is the result of different batches of wool that were dyed, as this is vegetal (aka vegetable) dyed wool rug (from plant, fruit, and vegetables) used to produce this whimsical rug.
Like all of the most artistic village rugs, older antique Malayer carpets are excellent investments in art. Malayer is a large village located between the major weaving areas of Hamadan and Sarouk in Northwest Persia. Malayer and the surrounding villages produced some of the most ornate village weavings that Blue Parakeet Rugs is proud to scour earth to find and collect. At the finer levels, each Malayer Oriental carpet is distinct, the weavers having drawn on a large pool of designs, investing much originality in their creation.
