This wonderful antique Anatolian Turkish scatter rug from circa 1900 hails from a region long known as a crossroads of many cultures; Anatolia is where Europe meets Asia. Despite the many empires that have come and gone in this area, the terrain and climate have isolated many nomadic tribes that reside there, which have allowed them to develop their own distinct culture and art.
This beauty has a bold graphic design with three medallions in the center in red, leather brown, buttery yellow, and soft pink creating a warm and inviting color story. Ram’s horn motifs, which symbolize fertility, power and masculinity, and Burdock motifs, which symbolizes abundance and the warding off of the evil eye, provide insight into the values of the women that wove this lovely scatter rug.
With color ways and natural dyes we love to see on Turkish rugs, this charming love-worn rug has a soulful presence that will enhance any space it is placed in. It has a low wool pile, is worn with a soft, floppy handle on a wool foundation.
This scatter rug will ship with a custom cut rug pad on the house.
