Famed for its grand, monumental scale of design and large scale motifs and elements, antique Turkish Oushak rugs are highly desirable and decorative for elegant room settings. These amazing rugs have been woven in the small region known as Oushak since about the beginning of the Ottoman empire.
Coarsely woven with superb wool and natural dyes, the distinctive pattern and subdued color palette makes this rug all the more desirable. It is subtle, yet bold...a primitive and soulful rug with immense history and meaning behind every inch of its being. The village weavers may have taken up two to three years to produce this work of art, undoubtedly from the wool of their own sheep, using larger knots and leaving us with a room size rug that will be forever cherished. This outstanding 19th Century rug is simply a masterpiece.
The muted tones makes the rug a top choice for world class designs who seek antique rugs with immense history and style, making these rugs the most sought after in the current market.
This Oushak features a sand ground and soft apricot color ways with an overall look breaths a European style. It takes after a 16th Century design. The borders are wide with floral vines and the meaningful, tribal elements in the field of this historical rug are plentiful. Other colors include tan, ivory, and chocolate brown.
The rug is low pile, in good condition with wear and character that is parallel to its age and history. It has been professionally cleaned.
This rug was photographed outdoors and indoors, so you can see the shades of the natural dyes as a result. For an up close experience, we'd be happy to have a video call with you and this old rug!
