We're about showing off here with this one because what you're looking at is an antique Northwest Persian Serapi. Some of the most incredible rugs were woven here and the term and rug of Serapi means this is a late 19th Century piece. These pieces are of the Heriz region and tribe, but Serapi are older, hand woven with better wool and their colors are distinct. We can find many Heriz runners, many of them being from Karaja/Gharajeh, but runners like this one are few and far between. The strong tribal field is sensational and considered a special heirloom with Lenkoran turtle medallions in the field. Look at it...you can see it in geometric form. It is amazing and very telling.
Thank you for viewing this piece in the collection and for shopping small!
