This primitive and nomadic scatter rug was woven circa 1850-1880. It is from the Caucasus mountains and it's simple, elemental and very symbolic. The borders feature the 8 pointed start, a motif that is said to represents man’s potential for inner wisdom and understanding. This small rug is a definite catch! Rugs of this early period and region which is modern day Iran and Turkey are quite respected.
Low pile, worn. Woven with all natural, vegetable dyed wool. A very cool and well respected collectible.
