This wonderful 2'4 x 5'7 rug comes from a larger masterpiece antique rug we had the fortune of acquiring from a gentleman in Hawaii. The rug found a home at BPR, and comes from an English family who settled in Hawaii decades ago and this rug was passed down to their daughter. It is a very rare antique Indian Agra with gorgeous art and color story.
This piece is a fabulous runner remnant created with perfect binding and hand finished details. With the rug initially coming in with damage, we decided to preserve this 19th Century rug by giving it new life with new shape and size and now it can live on and be cherished.
You will notice cypress trees we have captured in this piece that has great decorative value as well as meaning. The oldest living cypress trees around the globe actually live in Iran and they are popular trees in the Persian gardens. The meaning behind the cypress tree motif, they say it represents everlasting life.
Handwoven circa 1860-1880. All natural, vegetable dyed wool.
This piece will come with a free rug pad on the house to keep it snug and wiggle free.
