A little Kerman with a whole garden to give. This little Persian beauty dates to the 1920s, with a rich raspberry-pink ground and a luxurious wool pile you’ll feel and love.
Soft to the touch, its vegetable-dyed wool carries bouquets of denim blue, dusty sky blue, ivory, blush pink, warm camel, hunter green and walnut brown. The blues look especially beautiful against that berry-colored field, with deep navy outlines giving definition to the tiniest petals and leaves.
Three floral arrangements travel down the center, surrounded by smaller flowering sprays and gently curling stems. There’s a lovely balance to the drawing; it's full of detail, with little pockets of raspberry showing between the bouquets. An ivory floral border gathers everything together, edged with soft blue and a final ribbon of pink.
So much beautiful work in one small piece. A century-old flower garden for beside the bed, a favorite chair, or a little spot that could use some color, and something wonderful underfoot.
