3’1 x 15’9 Antique Persian Camel Hair Serab Runner #2406ML

Regular price $3,500.00

Woven with vegetable dyed wool and non-dyed camel hair, this Persian runner will grab your attention with the lattice art design and all the shades of blue, including a rarely seen French blue that steals hearts.

This runner is from circa 1880-1990 and it comes from Northwest Persia. It is a heavy duty runner and was woven undoubtedly with the wool of weaver’s own camel and sheep. It is nicely worn with small scale floral art running down the field with terra cotta and earthy tones and the edge guard features the “fence of security”. You’ll notice a lot of abrash throughout, indicating to us the many small batches of vegetable dyed wool used to weave this long Persian.

On one end of the runner, you’ll see a more jagged design of the edge guards…this is totally natural and how it was woven on the loom, most likely when women were switching hands to complete the runner.

Please see pics of character and condition, as the wear is uneven, congruent to age and history.

:: We recommend a rug pad for this piece, to keep it in place when styled. You can order one through the shop and we will custom cut it to size and send on order.
