This is an early 1900s Turkoman wool rug that is worn and it sits on a wool foundation. The octagonal elements you see throughout are actually elephant footprints. It was hand knotted by the nomadic tribe with natural resources used to dye the wool (veggies, fruits, plants, flowers). This antique rug was recently in rug rehab and restored to keep its integrity and add more years to its life. Please see pics for details on condition and character.
