Woven by mountain weavers, this is a really sweet, durable Kurdish rug from circa 1880 with dominating art and a spectacular medallion in the field. The weaver of this rug was probably a woman and she collected many plants, vegetables and roots for dye to hand-knot this beautiful representation of complementary color that is a dominant aspect of this masterful antique rug.
She who weaved this rug represents the primitive people of the tribe who washed and separated the best wool of her own family's sheep to weave what is now a most cherished artifact and beautiful folk art. This Kurdistan rug is simply a beautiful, decorative piece to add true charm to a home with the durability of wool to last for generations to come.
