Late 19th Century Caucasian runner.
This is an old hand knotted rug from the Caucasus mountains. It is tribal, with wool on wool foundation, from the 1880s with a soft and floppy handle.
It has all natural dyes with scorpion medallions in its field and fence of security along the border (a sign for protection). This rugs tells it story with all of its symbolism. It is a handwoven rug that has a beautiful contrasting color story. This rug is handmade and old, and it is slightly wider on one end than the other. It is also not perfectly straight...qualities that lend more to its character and age. Art!
We recommend a rug pad under this puppy...and you can order one through us if you'd like, to help keep this rug in place and we can custom cut it for you to size: https://www.shopblueparakeetrugs.com/collections/rug-pads/products/medium-runner-rug-pad
All the dyes you see are completely natural, from all the resources the tribespeople had around to use (veggies, plants and flowers).
