3' x 3'9 Midnight Blue Heriz

Regular price $0.01

A hard to find size Heriz, it's part of the itty bitty rug committee!

Almost all heriz we seem to catch are 8x10 or larger. This is a great find and a sweet little treasure. So for those of you who love heriz and dark, dark blue and wants a small version of the heriz dream, here it is!

This rug was hand knotted in Northwest Persia, and is in amazing condition for its 100 years of age. A real beauty that has timeless value and generations to go. This rug has coarse knotting and a low wool pile and a sophisticated geometric design. The medallions in it's field are simply awesome!

It's all natural, vegetable dyed wool rug is in great condition, especially considering its age. Remember, this is an original Heriz, not a reproduction. It does not get better than original Oriental rugs such as this.

Heriz's are one of the most sought after antique rugs and the durability of this heavy rug will last for generations to come.

Fun facts: Heriz rugs are known for their outstanding durability. Coined "the Iron Rug of Iran," Heriz rugs were produced in the Northwest corner of Iran, on and around Mount Sabalan. One reason for the toughness of Heriz carpets is that Mount Sabalan sits on a major deposit of copper. Trace copper in the drinking water of sheep produces the most desired wool for rug weaving because it makes wool that is stronger and more resilient than wool from most other areas. It is said that many Heriz rug designs are woven from memory, with intricate designs passed on through generations of artisans.
