From the south of Persia, woven in the late 19th Century is this tribal, Shiraz rug. It features 3 larger medallions in the field along with animal elements (look for the chickens) & pinwheels of life. Diamond motifs are in the main border and mountain design is on the edge guard. This nomadic, low pile piece has vegetable dyed wool and sits on a wool foundation, so it is a nice, floppy rug and definitely feels earthy. It's of great value to throw down some old history to a space and decorate it up with tribal art.
