3'1 x 13'10 Antique Persian Runner #681 / 3x14 Vintage Runner

Regular price $2,750.00

With deeply saturated natural dyes, bold contrast and striking tribal art, this runner from the early 1900s is powerful and symbolic. It has medallions within medallions in the field and on the borders, you'll notice the continuous 8 pointed geometric stars. These such stars are depicted in many cultures and have different important meanings. In antique rugs, it is known that there is song and story within every single knot. They say that on old Persians, the 8 pointed star was a symbol of inner wisdom and understanding...it is quite spiritual and as meaningful then as it is today.

We also see ram horns that are also symbolic across cultures. Some have used as a wind instrument, as it was blown by men to summon people together. As a motif in Oriental rugs, they say it represents power, masculinity and even fertility.

This beauty has amazing shocks of teal, red wine, aqua blue, coral, ivory, papaya orange and charcoal. Woven circa 1900 in Persia.

Low pile, worn. Character parallel to age and history.
