Late 19th Century Caucasian runner.
A beautiful runner with calm and subdued color ways, this old Russian woven by women in the Caucasus mountains is perfectly love worn. It has a nice length, and is not as wide as many of our other runners, so it can fit some of those narrow hallways. This gem has very soft wool. It is low pile, worn and was handwoven on a wool foundation. The design woven in the field is termed "herati", which means water garden design. You will see flower heads and fish if you look closely.
All the dyes you see are completely natural, from all the resources the tribespeople had around to use (veggies, plants and flowers). We recommend a rug pad as it is a softer/floppier rug by nature. We have them in shop. Here is the link if you'd like to add it to purchase:
This is a definite heirloom we are proud to have in the collection and offering it at a great deal compared to the brick and mortar prices out there.
