The wool is superior and this runner has a great wool pile, woven circa 1920. It is heavy duty with scattered wear and will be able to take on a good deal of foot traffic and abuse. Please note, this is a handwoven and old runner and the width varies slightly throughout, as you can see in the overall shots. It's an all natural effect of women on the loom as they wove for several months during different climate and seasons.
The Harshang crab design you see is also definitely something amazing in art and also in value and meaning. The crab motifs are attractive and actually symbolic across many cultures. They say crabs represent renewal and rebirth due to the fact that they are able to shed their old shell and generate a new one. It is meaningful to us now as it was to the weavers back then.
