This late 19th Century Persian is something we go bananas for! It is a Mission Malayer. The history is locked in with beautiful scattered wear of this hand knotted beauty, but the natural dyes and color ways is what captures our heart. This fine Oriental rug is a gem! Low pile and in great condition for its age with gorgeous variation of the vegetables dyes throughout the rug.
What else makes this rug stand out? Well, it is nearly square and we rarely come across that in antique rugs! It is special and the art and pattern throughout the rug is super attractive.
Malayer is a large village located between the major weaving areas of Hamadan and Sarouk in Persia. Malayer and the surrounding villages produced some of the most ornate village weavings. At the finer levels, each Malayer Oriental carpet is distinct, the weavers having drawn on a large pool of designs, investing much originality in their creation.
