Although Persian rugs are timeless, this particular gorgeous antique 1920’s camel hair Persian runner has a color scheme that will delight modern tastes. The main open field was woven with raw, non-dyed camel hair which provides this beautiful neutral golden color that is delicious. Striations of varying tones of the camel hair add an organic feel to it.
The inner border with a floral theme in ivory, coral, cornflower blue, and tawny against a sage green ground is a great contrast to the center field. The middle border with a turtle motif in a variety of colors against an ivory ground really pops against the neutral tones. Lastly, the outer border repeats the floral pattern against a tawny ground which ties it all together. The borders were woven with all-natural vegetable dyed wool.
Originating from Serab in the Northwest of Persia, this beauty is in great condition. This fabulous runner is a rare breed because of the main open field; we don’t normally see that in antique Persian rugs. The neutral tones with punches of colors makes decorating a space with this runner a pleasure.
