This amazing antique Lenkoran Kazak runner hails from the Caucasus Mountain region, woven circa 1890-1900. It is a very distinct type of Kazak rug with turtle motifs and fantastic geometric tribal patterns in ivory, French blue, pale yellow, and rust tones against a midnight blue ground in the main field. Lovely serrated leaves against a rust tone ground in the main border adds a nice decorative flair to the overall feeling of the runner.
This beauty has a low wool pile and a soft wool foundation, which gives the runner a wonderful handle to it making the wool floppier. There has been some scattered wear in the central field, so there is more wool closer to the borders. This runner has also been recently cleaned and given TLC in Rug Rehab, outfitting a foundation where there was some wool loss.
This fantastic runner is a great length and it is highly recommended to use a rug pad underneath it to protect it and keep it in place.
Low pile. Worn.
