Here's why we love super old rugs. Look at those amazing and time worn color ways, in its naturally aged condition. This circa 1870s piece was hand woven with wool, and it sits on a wool foundation. It travels to us from a Russian village in the Caucasus mountains, near Mt. Sabalon and is known as a Caucasian rug.
This tribal rug exudes earthiness, power and strength. It's an absolute heirloom definition and will show off immense age and history where it's styled.
Rugs from this region are very sought after by Caucasian rug collectors. Undoubtedly, a woman wove this rug, and when completed, it was sold as a source of life income.
Hand knotted with vegetable dyed wool, on wool foundation. Very worn. Please see pics for condition and character detail.
