Woven by mountain weavers in 1880's, this is an outstanding Persian Kurdish Rug on and ivory backdrop, durable and timeworn. It has a wool on wool foundation with a herati (also known as a fish design) that flows in pattern as well as floral work woven in. The wool is high quality and superior...you won't miss it once you feel it and we're proud to extend it at such a great value for a great piece of history.
The weaver of this rug was probably a woman and she collected many plants, vegetables and roots for dye to hand-knot this beautiful representation of color that is a dominant aspect of this masterful antique rug. She who weaved this rug represents the primitive people of the tribe who washed and separated the best wool of her own family's sheep to weave what is now a most cherished artifact and beautiful folk art. This Persian Kurdistan rug is simply a beautiful, decorative piece to add true charm to a home with the durability of wool to last for generations to come.
