This Persian is something we go bananas for! Look at those amazing color ways, the animal elements the weavers locked in and the amazing art history with medallions and floral vines. You can stare at this gem for days. This hand knotted antique rug with all natural dyes captures our hearts. It is low pile and in great condition for its age with gorgeous variation of vegetables dyes throughout the rug.
Like many rugs that come from this village circa 1920s, Malayers have a certain aesthetic and appeal with highly decorative woven design. Malayer is a large village located between the major weaving areas of Hamadan and Sarouk in Persia. Malayer and the surrounding villages produced some of the most ornate village weavings. At the finer levels, each Malayer Oriental carpet is distinct, the weavers having drawn on a large pool of designs, investing much originality in their creation.
