There's a lot going on to captivate us on this distressed, old runner that comes from the nomadic people of the Caucasus that was located north of Persia. The ivory border with tribal motifs is eye catching and the shades of sea foam green and sky blue edge guards draw us in. This rug features a lot of story and symbolism in each inch and knot. It is a very worn rug, down to the foundation in some spots and one side of a border is patched from another Caucasian rug.
Its from the mid to late 19th Century and will be a super cool piece to style that shows immense art and history and splashes of exquisite natural dyes. This rug should be in a place with less traffic and protected by a rug pad underneath to give its body care and grip. It has a really beautiful and floppy handle as this rug is 100% old world wool.
Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool.
