Here's a colorful delight in this late 19th Century runner from the Caucasus mountains! This piece is beautifully worn and is decorated with paisleys in the field on its antique ivory ground of all natural vegetable dyed wool. It is known as a Kazak and was woven by women in the rugged mountain areas North of Persia. This runner has a lovely, floppy handle and is low pile wool and sits on a wool foundation. The dyes are abundant and flat, due to their organic nature and source.
