From the region of Caucasus mountains, this antique vegetable dyed wool rug embodies great style, geometric and bold design. It was hand knotted circa 1880 and comes from the Shirvan district, known to have some of the most finely knotted and sophisticated antique carpets of the Caucasus region. For example, this iconic Caucasian Shirvan antique rug is striking in its elemental simplicity. These rugs are considered rare and many like to collect them, having been produced from expert dyers and weavers.
The rug features an all over pattern and is in in awesome timeworn condition, parallel to age and history. It has a size to play up any space very beautifully and in style.
