This Persian is something we go bananas for! In beautiful condition after a century of life, and with such a sensational patina. This village rug is a Malayer with amazing art, history and a story within every knot. You can stare at this gem for days....it simply captures our hearts. It is low pile with gorgeous variation of vegetables dyes throughout the rug.
Like many rugs that come from this village circa 1900, Malayers have a certain aesthetic and appeal with highly decorative woven design. Malayer is a large village located between the major weaving areas of Hamadan and Sarouk in Persia. Malayer and the surrounding villages produced some of the most ornate village weavings. At the finer levels, each Malayer Oriental carpet is distinct, the weavers having drawn on a large pool of designs, investing much originality in their creation.
