This beautifully worn NW Persian runner from circa 1880s was woven with vegetable dyed wool. It features paisleys in the field all over (representing ‘seeds of life’ and ‘fertility’) and has the 8 pointed star in the border which they say is symbolic, pointing to the ability of human beings, to attain a higher level of understanding and wisdom.
This Persian has a nice, floppy handle and sits on a deep, dark brown ground and has antique ivory borders. This piece has a small worn and torn area on the side selvedge, please see pics.
