This beautifully worn NW P E R S I A N runner from circa 1880s was woven with vegetable dyed wool. It features paisleys in the field all over (representing ‘seeds of life’ and ‘fertility’) and has the 8 pointed star in the border which they say is symbolic, pointing to the ability of human beings, to attain a higher level of understanding and wisdom.
This P E R S I A N has a nice, floppy handle and sits on a deep, dark brown ground and has antique ivory borders. This piece has a small worn and torn area on the side selvedge, please see pics.
