From the region of Caucasus, this antique vegetable dyed Shirvan rug is in great condition for its age and features a lovely terra cotta palette with all natural dyes. If you look closely, you can see various batches of dyes used by the weavers, including a streak of teal blue! ART!
These rugs are considered rare and many like to collect them, having been produced from expert dyers and weavers. It has simple color ways, great condition, wool on wool foundation and oh so good. Rugs from this region are termed Caucasian, also known as old Russians. Undoubtedly, a woman wove this rug, and when completed, it was sold as a source of life income.
