A great size with phenomenal art on this Kurdish Bidjar, this runner from the early 1900s has articulate work and labor of love that simply cannot be missed. The field of the runner is a water garden design, also known as "herati". You will see flower heads and fish in a repeating pattern. In the borders, you will notice the geometric motifs which are actually turtles. Very cool art history. All natural dyes were taken to this rug, where vegetables, plants and flowers and other resources from Mother Earth were used to cook into the wool.
This rug is low pile and extremely durable. Look how good it looks after a Century of use! It was hand woven with wool, on a wool foundation. It has light scattered wear.
