Woven by the famous Qashqai nomads in the first quarter of the 20th Century, this wool rug from southern Persia is a true gem. The artisans who wove this rug used remarkable natural dyes with various shades of blue that we love. In the runner, we also see that the date (in Farsi, Persian year 1314) woven in.
Their tribe members that no longer exist were known to have a tight knit community as well as great song and story. These rugs are distinct, well known and have a lot of appeal. This Qashqai is a wool on wool foundation runner, with super soft wool and it is in worn condition.
A true art form, these special rugs continue to hold a special place on our hearts! The Qashqai say, "Where I am, is my carpet. Where my carpet and I am, is my home.”
Hand knotted with vegetable dyed wool.
