This fine 1920s oriental rug (oriental means hand woven) antique rug has intricate details, with amazing hand knotted work. It is a wool rug on a cotton foundation and all dyes are organic and natural, from plant, vegetables, flowers and roots (vegetal dyes). The strip in the rug with a different color background is all natural abrash (variation of dyes due to a different batch of wool used to weave) and adds phenomenal character to this piece.
It features a Herati design in the field on a midnight blue ground (may appear black) and the medallions in the borders you see are turtles! This rug has a soulful touch and is durable for high foot traffic, so feel free to place it in the entry or any other space that needs some great old charm!
