Woven in the region of Caucasus mountains, this late 19th Century vegetable dyed wool Kazak embodies the geometric and bold design and color that are traditional features of these rugs. Perhaps that is why they are some of the most widely collected and prized of the Caucasian rugs. Some of the earliest Kazaks woven date back as far as 1700 BC.
These rugs are very powerful in design and durability. Hand knotted with very soft wool and coarse knots, this Kazak has time worn character and is in great shape considering age, history and use. This wool rug sits on a soft wool foundation. We recommend a rug pad with this beauty.
