This 5x7ish antique P E R S I A N rug has intricate details, with amazing hand knotted work, featuring “pregnant paisleys” that repeat throughout the field. Paisleys, also known formally as "boteh" in F A R S I, represents the seed of life to the weavers (fertility). The paisleys in this beauty have seeds within each one, which is a symbol often used to symbolize the weaver who was an expectant mother. So special!
This old wool rug comes from the region of M A L A Y E R. It sits on a deep midnight blue ground and has warm and rust colors. The dyes have various, natural shades throughout that are quite evident. It's a low pile P E R S I A N, from the early 1900s and was hand woven with vegetable dyed wool. It does not get better.
