This is a late 19th Century flat weave Kilim from the Caucasus mountains. It comes from the Shirvan district with absolute indication and pattern of the tribal group with wide and narrow bands alternating and displaying hexagons and lozenges. This is an all wool piece with well preserved natural dyes.
This flat weave is hand woven with wool on wool foundation and features tribal motifs all throughout. This is a stout Kilim, but it is not suggested to be in very high traffic areas.
Woven with vegetable dyed wool, circa 1880.
