This is an antique rug that was woven in the Caucasus mountains. The artisans featured what collectors identify as eagles in the field of the runner. Most of the cultural symbols have their origins wrapping around folk mythology, folklore, religion, art and history. The eagle is a symbol of courage, wisdom and freedom to these mountain nomads. This old rug has a beautiful color palette with a dusty blush ground.
Low pile, from the 1930s.
