This wonderful antique Persian rug woven by the Kurdish tribe has a lot of presence and beautiful motifs with wonderful pops of sailor blue, turquoise and coral. A central medallion with sprays of flowers in delicate pastel tones stands out against the navy blue drawing the eye toward it, while lovely floral motifs float against the bold brick red ground, giving it a charming warmth. The spandrels anchor this amazing rug with a floral design and scorpion motifs that were used to protect tribe members from scorpions in their environment.
The dainty camel border continue the nature-inspired motifs and hugs this rug perfectly. Handwoven with wool that was dyed using natural resources, such as flowers, vegetables, and plants, the colors have aged beautifully. This is a low pile and durable Persian from the 1920s and will be able to withstand abuse and high traffic areas.
