From the Shirvan district comes this whimsical Caucasian rug and it has original geometric composition with great visual impact and amazing color ways. Woven circa 1880, it is beautifully worn, has a floppy handle and a soft wool foundation.
We're definitely in love with it's size of nearly 5x7. Most of these nomadic pieces were usually woven even smaller, from the tribes that lived near Mt. Sabalan, so this one is a bit of a treat to really dress the floors up. The ground color is in navy blue, with rust borders, and symbolic motifs throughout.
Low pile. Worn. From the 1880s.
