If you've landed on this rug, there are two things...you love that divine aqua blue border and the size is just right! This is an antique Persian Bidjar...known as the "iron rug" of Persia is exquisite and will definitely steal the show when styled because it commands attention with all of its beauty.
It was woven circa 1900 and is low pile on a wool foundation. The rug is handmade and old, and it doesn't have a perfectly straight nature. You'll see the curve in one end of the rug...perfectly normal for an antique rug. The ground color is a mellowed burnt orange, with stronger shades and more subdued shades throughout the field. This is also natural as the weavers used different batches of their naturally dyed wool to weave. The borders are definitely one of the most attractive parts with that lovely blue and those elements that you see are turtle motifs.
