Woven in the region of Caucasus mountains, this 140 year old vegetable dyed wool Kazak embodies the geometric and bold design and tribal elements that are traditional features of these rugs. Perhaps that is why they are some of the most widely collected and prized of the Caucasian rugs. Some of the earliest Kazaks woven date back as far as 1700 BC.

This worn Kazak was woven with wool on a soft wool foundation and it has a wonderful, floppy handle as a result. All the colors you see are from all natural dyes that was hand knotted to make this tribal gem and the differentiation of color shades throughout is abrash, a natural characteristic of old rugs woven with several batches of naturally dyed wool.

We'll ship this old rug with a custom cut rug pad to keep this beauty nice and snug.
