From the region of Caucasus (North of Persia), this antique vegetable dyed wool Kazak rug embodies great style, geometric and bold design. It's what these amazing rugs are all about. Featuring powerful diamond medallions within the field with various background colors within each, this antique Caucasian from circa 1900 is worn, but stout and solid, sitting on an amber ground with exquisite abrash throughout, displaying the wonderful old world practice of dying wool that no longer exist. The midnight blue border features S hook motifs.
Kazak rugs are mountain rugs of the Caucasus region and are collectibles, rare and known to be most sought after. These hand knotted rugs are sophisticated antique carpets that come from expert dyers and weavers.
These nomads included in their work of art many elements throughout the rug that has great symbolism as well as symmetry.
This is a worn but stout Kazak on a wool foundation, woven with all natural dyes that are derived from fruits, vegetable, insects and flowers. It is ready for another century of use.
